How many times in my world travels to the big and small towns have I had this feeling that Shirley brought memories to my brain as I miss ed my wife and son.

My God, the man knew he was dying.

This song heads the lineup on the CD "The Art of Song." It's a ballad that I never tire of hearing, even after many years. The second time Shirley returns to the lyric "Unless there's love, the world's an empty place" I am completely sold on her, very thankful for good music and musicians.

A wonderfully complex Leonard Bernstein tune, beautifully suited to Shirley Horn, being mournful and slow. Superbly orchestrated arrangement by Alan Broadbent.All these superlatives; but they're well-deserved!

Shirley Horn is a guest vocalist and sings 4 songs in this same album "The Art of Song" by Charlie Haden's Quartet West, with chamber orchestra. But on this song she is not present, so the music video title here might confuse people.

Una nota natural que debería ser bemol por el contexto tonal..Un bajo persistente y pregnante que transforma en huésped un acorde que es anfitrión..O un ritmo que se sostiene en algo más parecido a la certeza de la respiración o el latido que a un acuerdo con el tiempo.. La emocionante tensión de un romance que Gismonti mantiene con una atonalidad a la que nunca propondrá matrimonio
